Privacy Policy

The short version: Inkpad collects nothing, sends nothing, and knows nothing about what you write.

What we collect

Nothing. Inkpad has no server-side component, no accounts, no analytics, no advertising pixels and no third-party trackers. There is no mechanism by which the content of your notes could reach us.

Where your notes are stored

Documents are written to the localStorage area of the browser you are using, keyed to this site. That storage is part of your own device profile. It is not encrypted by Inkpad, and it is readable by anyone who has access to your device and browser profile.

The following keys are used, all stored locally:

KeyPurpose
inkpad.workspace.v1Your documents, their names and the active tab
inkpad.settings.v1Editor preferences such as font, size and word wrap
inkpad.themeWhether you chose the light or dark theme

Cookies

Inkpad sets no cookies of its own. Clearing cookies and site data for this site will also delete the keys listed above, which means your notes go with them.

Files you open or save

When you open a text file, it is read locally by your browser and placed in the editor. Nothing is uploaded. When you save, a file is generated in your browser and handed to your normal download flow — again, entirely on your device.

Printing and PDF export

The print command passes the current document to your browser's own print dialog. Whether that becomes paper or a PDF file is handled entirely by your operating system.

Your control over the data

  • Delete a single note with the ⋯ → Delete note action in the editor.
  • Close a tab to remove that document from storage.
  • Clear everything by removing this site's cookies and site data in your browser settings.
  • Keep an independent copy at any time with Save, which downloads a plain .txt file.

Bottom line: because nothing is transmitted, there is nothing for us to leak, sell or hand over. The corollary is that there is also nobody to recover your notes if you clear your browser data — so keep backups of anything important.

Changes to this policy

If the behaviour of the tool ever changes in a way that affects this policy, the text on this page will be updated. The current behaviour is exactly as described above: no transmission, no tracking, no accounts.
